A daily look at all that is doubles on the ATP and WTA tours. Tuesday’s buzz centers on Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis. The top ranked doubles pair on the WTA tour returned to action at the Qatar Total Open. They were seeking to extend their 40 match win streak.

Top Two Seeds Open Strong in Doha
Play on Tuesday at the Qatar Total Open saw the return of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis. The top seeds needed a super tiebreak, but were able to escape with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 victory over Yi-Fan Xu and Saisai Zheng. It was a match full of runs from beginning to end as Mirza-Hingis turned an 0-3 deficit in the opener into a 5-3 lead. The super tiebreak saw the top seeds rally from down 4-1 to win nine straight points to clinch their 41st straight win.

Second seeds Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Yaroslava Shvedova topped Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Barbora Krejcikova 6-3, 7-6 (4). Meanwhile, Sara Errani and Carla Suarez Navarro took down 5th seeds Lucie Hradecka and Andrea Hlavackova 3-6, 6-4, 10-6. The 5th seeded Czechs are now slumping with three straight losses, including a pair of early exits in Dubai and this week in Doha

Rojer-Tecau Start Dubai With Victory
Top seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau began their campaign in Dubai on Tuesday with a straight sets win. Rojer-Tecau bounced Viktor Troicki and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez from the tournament with a 6-2, 7-5 win. The top seeds were nearly unstoppable when getting their first serves in, winning 29 of 31 points. They will face Marc and Feliciano Lopez in the quarterfinals. The Spaniards edged Dominic Inglot and Robert Lindstedt 7-6 (3), 6-3. Team Lopez took advantage of the second serves of their opponents most often, helping them win 18 of 26 points in the match.

In other action, third seeds Vasek Pospisil and Nenad Zimonjic were sent out by qualifiers Hyeon Chung and Jiri Vesely. Chung and Vesely saved all five of break points they faced and broke Pospisil-Zimonjic once in each set in their 6-4, 6-4 conquest over the third seeds. Italian duo Andreas Seppi and Simone Bolelli also secured a quarterfinal berth with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Mahesh Bhupathi and Aisam Ul-Haq Quereshi. The Italians had Bhupathi and Quereshi under constant pressure on their serves as they crafted ten break chances and converted three.

Acapulco Monday Recap
On the opening day of main draw play at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel on Monday, two seeded teams won in the men’s draw. Third seeds Alexander Peya and Philipp Petzschner edged wild cards Cesar Ramirez and Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela 6-3, 5-7, 12-10. Peya-Petzschner won three of the final four points in the super tiebreak to break a 9-9 deadlock. Fourth seeds Max Mirnyi and Treat Huey also needed a super tiebreak as they narrowly defeated Chris Guccione and Bernard Tomic 4-6, 6-3, 14-12.

On the women’s side, top seeds Anabel Medina Garrigues and Aranxta Parra Santonja opened play with a triumph over Shuko Aoyama and Makoto Ninimiya 6-0, 6-2. Third seeds Lara Arruabarrena and Paula Goncalves defeated Elena Bogdan and Viktorija Golubic 7-5, 6-4. Fourth seeds Jocelyn Rae and Anna Smith are one and done though. The Brits dropped their first round match to Anastasia Rodionova and Galina Voskoboeva 6-0, 7-6 (4).

A pair of men’s doubles matches are on top Tuesday evening with Matwe Middlekoop and Wesley Koolhoff taking on Gilles Muller and Aljaz Bedene. The final match of the night will pit defending champions Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Santiago Gonzalez against Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey. In the women’s draw, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Yanina Wickmayer team up to tussle with Victoria Rodriguez and Renata Zarazua. The final women’s match tonight features second seeds Kiki Bertens and Johanna Larsson against British pair Johanna Konta and Heather Watson.

Sao Paulo Round-up
On Monday, Rogerio Dutra Silva and Joao Souza scored an upset win over fourth seeds Nicholas Monroe and Philipp Oswald 7-5, 6-2. Silva and Souza broke Monroe-Oswald twice in each set. The day began with Argentines Federico Delbonis and Diego Schwartzman beating Facundo Bagnis and Inigo Cervantes 6-3, 6-4. Both Monday winners are now in the quarterfinals of the 16 team draw.

Tuesday saw two matches on the schedule at the Brasil Open. First up, Horacio Zeballos and Julio Peralta edged Andreas Siljestrom and Mateusz Kowalczyk 7-6 (3), 7-5. Zeballos-Peralta faced just one break point which came in the 10th game of set two. It doubled as a set point that was saved and allowed the pair to break Siljestrom-Kowalczyk in the next game to put them into position to close out the match on-serve. The final match of the day’s doubles slate saw Andres Molteni and Guillermo Duran upset Thomaz Bellucci and Marcelo Demoliner 6-4, 6-2.
